US Cinema Release of ★ and "Show & Tell" with Johann Lurf at "Anthology Film Archives" NY

Starting sept 8, Johann Lurf´s fantastic AvantGarde-Hit ★ can be seen in New York´s Anthology Film Archives in presence of the artist, accompanied by an additional Show & Tell with selected shorts by Lurf on sept 9.

ARENA by Björn Kämmerer invited to TIFF 2018

Austro-German artist Björn Kämmerer seems to be a frequenter at Toronto International Film Festival ! His latest film ARENA has just been selected into the Wavenlength-Section, the festival’s line for experimental filmmaking. ARENA will be presented in its original 70mm shooting format.

Kurt Kren: Lord of Frames - Program touring Japan

Tokyo´s Image Forum organizes a tour of films by Austrian AvantGarde filmmaker and master of structural film Kurt Kren through several japanese cities.
The films have recently been restaured and digitized by the Austrian Filmmuseum. Brigitta Burger-Utzer, manger of sixpackfilm and curator of this program will give a lecture in Kyoto.

Brigitta Burger-Utzer honored with Austrian Art Award!

The co-founder and long-time head of sixpackfilm – Brigitta Burger-Utzer – is awarded with the Austrian Art Award for Film 2017 by the Federal Chancellery on July 12th.
The jury stated as reason for the distinction her extraordinary merits for the international mediation and publicity of the Austrian art films.

We are thrilled about this tribute and would like to congratulate Brigitta for her outstandig and well deserved success!

… again good news from the Festivalworld: Karlovy Vary International Film Festival selected again a couple of “sixpack-films” into the programs of it´s 53rd edition this year: Next to Johann Lurf´s successful Starfilm ★, Gouvernment House by Herwig Weiser, Phantom Ride Phantom by Siegfried Fruhauf and Imperial Valley- cultivated run-off by Lukas Marxt have been choosen to run in the IMAGINA section. We are very proud !

Miliz in der Früh, Scheugls erster und kaum bekannter Film von 1966, schwelgt in einer Fülle, die keinen Umweg über die Leere nimmt. Ein Arsenal an Formelementen und Montagepraktiken, die die Film-Avantgarde schätzt, wird ausgebreitet: die Trennung von Bild und Ton, der Kurzschnitt und sein Flickern, der künstlerische Eingriff in das Bild selbst, die Fragmentierung in narrative Partikel, die Übersetzung von Schrift in Bild, der nervöse urbane Blick, den nichts hält, die Farbe, die sich von ihren Gegenständen löst und zum Zeichen wird, ein System von Unterbrechungen und Verzweigungen, das lineare Zeit aus den Fugen hebt. Auch die Geschichte, zu der sich der Film zusammensetzt, hat die klassische Dramaturgie längst verabschiedet. This program gathers works in which women insist on the self-determination of identity and how they or their concerns are represented.
