Claudia Larcher

Claudia Larcher is a filmmaker and artist based in Vienna. Her artistic practice encompasses video animation, collage, photography, installation and AI-based processes, focusing primarily on architecture, memory and perception. She explores how reality is layered and reconstituted through digital and analogue techniques, addressing the materiality of algorithmic images, ecological concerns, and the intersection of photography and artificial intelligence.
Her films and installations have been presented internationally at venues including the Anthology Film Archives in New York, the Slought Foundation in Philadelphia, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, the Kunsthalle Wien, the Tokyo Wondersite, Manifesta 13 and the Gray Area Festival in San Francisco.
Larcher has received numerous awards, including the Kunsthalle Wien Prize (2008), the Outstanding Artist Award from the Austrian Federal Chancellery (2016), the Vorarlberg Cultural Prize (2018), the Hilde Goldschmidt Prize (2019) and the Austrian Art Award for Artistic Photography (2023).
